GUM Learning was initiated by a group of Canadian-born Asian high school students. The organization's goal is to build a global language learning platform for students who are interested in language study. GUM is a non-profit organization, with a mission to improve global students’ language proficiency including English, French, Chinese and other languages.

GUM also provides tuition-free language courses and sponsors extracurricular activities for low-income students.
